Full/part time position

As a Data Engineer you will help our Data team extend the boundaries of our monitoring tools and keep sites we already monitor nice and tidy. You will configure our parsing tools to be efficient and correct. You will instruct our web spider how to crawl sites and detect new content in the most efficient way. Doing so you will learn a lot about how websites are built and will experience the full diversity of the Internet. You will work in an informal and dynamic environment at the beautiful oud-zuid quarter of Amsterdam.

To give a better idea about the type of work you will do, here is a list of some the skills involved. Having these skills at day one is not a requirement. We are much more keen on finding capable people with the right hands on and proactive mentality. The rest you will learn on the job.

As a new data engineer you will learn new skills and improve the skills you already have:

• Understanding HTML.
• Using regular expressions.
• Having a good eye for details, doing things right and in proper order.
• Familiarity with XML-based solution like RSS.
• Familiarity with the notions that are involved in building sites: sessions, http response codes, AJAX etc.
